All About Pods - The Wildlings

What is a Wildling?

In terms of the ONEtribe, a “Wildling” simply refers to a person who chooses not to be part of a Pod whilst engaging with the Tribe.

The term “wildling” is a fun and affectionate term that comes from Zingdad’s Lyran tales. In these stories, the Wildlings are a group of playful beings who chose to wander freely rather than to be part of a single village. They are solo adventurers, so to speak.

Of course, if you choose not to be part of a Pod, you can call yourself anything you’d like.

Here's a video in which Arn talks to this option:

The Pros and Cons

There are certainly some benefits to being a Wildling. We understand that some people have a strong desire to engage with the Tribe but are unable to make the commitments required during the first year’s initiation!

Perhaps you have an intense schedule, commitments to family or live in a wildly different time zone. Perhaps you’re just not ready to take the group journey. If this is the case, we would still love for you to join us.

As a Wildling, you have the ability to engage with the core material at your own pace. You have access to all Tribe events and you do not need to attend a weekly Pod meeting because you are not journeying with a Pod. You may associate freely with other Wildlings and even negotiate short visits with Pods that you like.

Additionally, you can still gain the benefits of accessing the ONEtribe marketplace! You may market your services there and support the businesses of other tribemates. As a Wildling, you really have a great deal of freedom and flexibility.

However, there are some major downsides to making this choice.

Pods are the foundation of the Tribe. One of the primary purposes of the Pod system is to create soul-deep and meaningful connections with other Tribe members in a way that you are really known. This is achieved through experiencing the year-long initiatory journey with a group of beloved others.

Without joining a Pod, it is much more difficult for the Tribe to really know you.

It means missing out on the deep connection, belonging and support of a Pod.  It also means missing out on the co-creative power that the Pod offers. Your dreams, intentions and goals are co-created, supported and empowered by your Pod, and through them, by the Tribe as a whole. If you remain unknown, it is that much more difficult for the tribe to support your endeavors.

There is also no way to tell if you’ve really worked through your shadows and completed the initiatory process into creator consciousness. You will not have a Pod Parent to recommend you as a candidate for graduation. Therefore, you will need to really work to form relationships with tribemates and show yourself as a worthy co-creator.

Until you do, you effectively remain an initiate – unable to join ONEtribe leadership.

As a Wildling, you are therefore not eligible to join the Wisdom Council or become an Elder. Since you are not able to become an Elder, you are also not eligible to earn income from the ONEtribe by teaching, creating new paths, participating in leadership or offering the Tribe services. The ONEtribe will be unable to endorse you or invite you to provide a service.

Of course, we are open to making exceptions on a case-by-case basis, to those extraordinary Wildlings who really show up in the Tribe and shine their light. These cases are reviewed by the Wisdom Council. But, the simplest path to all these benefits is, by far, spending a year as an Initiate in a Pod.

Conclusion

Being a Wildling is a path of greater freedom and less responsibility – yet it forgoes some of the privileges afforded to other ONEtribe members. We highly recommend the Pod system – it is a huge part of what ONEtribe is about.

However, if you simply cannot commit to this, ONEtribe is still accessible to you. You may consider being a solo-adventuring Wildling!
